PAAAMMI was first established in the year 2000 headed by the founding chairman emeritus, Dr. Jane Enriquez. PAAAMMI previously stands for Philippine Academy of Aesthetic and Anti-Aging Management Inc. The group became active from 2001-2002. Scientific symposiums and round table discussions were occasionally done. The yearly annual convention was observed.
In 2008, PAAAMMI’s current president Doctor Charlie Mendez, who was the committee chairman at that time, worked on changing and reinventing the PAAAMMI new acronym to Philippine Academy of Aesthetics and Age Management Inc and re-registered the society with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). With that endeavor, he got the full support of the founding chairman Dr. Jane Enriquez.
Dr. Charlie Mendez also lined up PAAAMMI to be recognized as an approved society by the Department of Tourism. He also worked on PAAAMMI to be an affiliate of Philippine Medical Association (PMA), which was later, granted to the society on 2014 under the presidency of Dr. Leo Olarte. PAAAMMI is also recognized by other society including Philippine Dermatologic Society.
In 2010, PAAAMMI started to further its national activities of Continuing Medical Education by having more Scientific symposiums. Dr. Charlie has appointed its members–Dr. Gisela Trajano-Sarmiento as the chairman for continuing medical education, national level and Dr. James Boado as the chairman for continuing education, international affairs. They were tasked and required to have a series of symposiums for the members. Scientific symposiums are held twice a month specially created for the PAAAMMI members and for their continuous training in their field.
From a once per month activity, it now constantly engages in the national level of twice to thrice per month notably marking its 46th Symposium this August 2015, proudly making PAAAMMI in the Philippine history if not the most active but as one of the most active medical society in the realm of continuing medical education (CME). Members are actively attending the various CME’s.
Furthermore, the international continuing medical education was further strengthened by the members attending international congresses and training from global academy leaders such as National Skin Centre Singapore, American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine (A3M), American Anti-Aging of Aesthetic Medicine (A4M), Australian Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A5M), International Masters Course on Aging Skin (IMCAS), World Society Interdisciplinary Anti-Aging Medicine (WOSIAM), International Congress for Aesthetic Dermatology (ICAD), World Class Regenerative Experts as Forum on Adipose Tissue and Stem Cell (FATS), the EUROMEDICOM under which AMWC, AMEC, and FACE congresses. PAAAMMI Members from all over the country would come and attend these activities globally.
From the PAAAMMI reinvention in 2012 wherein they only had 78 members, PAAAMMI has almost 280 members and counting as of July 2015.
In 2012 at the Mid-Year Convention held at Waterfront Hotel Cebu, the reinvented organization that is PAAAMMI was successfully introduced and launched.
In 2013, PAAAMMI held its successful First Annual Convention at the Hyatt Hotel Manila.
In 2014, the new sets of the PAAAMMI Board of Directors headed by the chairman of the board Dr. Francis Decangchon, Executive Officers, and the National Working Committees were successfully inducted in the Dusit Thani Hotel, Makati City under oath of office presiders former PMA President Leo Olarte and Philippine Ambassador to South Korea Raul Hernandez. In addition, the Second Annual Convention was held at Crowne Plaza Hotel in Ortigas Pasig. It was also this year that the academy opened its doors for active Auxiliary Members who are spouses of the active PAAAMMI members. This strengthens further the national activities at hand.
The 3rd Annual Convention was held last September 1-2, 2015 at the Fiesta Pavilion of the Manila Hotel. Attended by 300 or more delegates from in and out of the country. The contemplated corporate booth exhibitors are around eighty as to date.
Soon, the training institution of PAAAMMI is in the forthcoming plans. The board is also fixing the training programs for the members both national and international. Likewise, PAAAMMI is also working with affiliations with the other international companies so that they can legally send their partner doctors for further training and international practice.
With the strong and vast accomplishments PAAAMMI has achieved for the past years especially from its reinvention year, Dr. Mendez is also aiming for PAAAMMI to be on top of mind academy among the visiting doctors from abroad, as well as locally. In the future, PAAAMMI aims to align and incorporate with other government agencies so they can also take part in the annual conventions.
